Aurora Martin, soprano

Aurora Martin performs throughout New England, recently joining the ensembles of Boston Baroque and Boston Lyric Opera. She collaborates regularly with Odyssey Opera, The Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra the Arlington-Belmont Chorale, Opera del West, and Opera on Tap. Aurora Martin was named a semi-finalist in the prestigious Partners for the Arts 9th National Opera Competition. Aurora joined Opera Company of Middlebury as a 2021 Young Artist, covering “Agnès Sorel” in The Maid of Orleans. Solo concert repertoire includes Satie’s Socrates, Mahler’s Das Knaben Wunderhorn, Beethoven’s Mass in C Major, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Saint-Saëns’ Christmas Oratorio, and Fauré’s Requiem. Operatic highlights include Pamina, Micaëla, Miss Silvertone, Noèmie, and Liesgen. Aurora holds a MM from The New England Conservatory and degrees in Music and Chemistry from Virginia Tech.

Mezzo-soprano Krista River has appeared as a soloist with the Boston Symphony, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the North Carolina Symphony, the Cape Cod Symphony, the Santa Fe Symphony, Handel & Haydn Society, the Florida Orchestra, the Charlotte Symphony, Odyssey Opera, Baltimore Choral Arts Society, and Boston Baroque. Winner of the Concert Artists Guild International Competition and a Sullivan Foundation grant recipient, her opera roles include Dido in Dido and Aeneas, Sesto in La clemenza di Tito, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Anna in Weill’s Seven Deadly Sins, Nancy in Britten’s Albert Herring, and the title role in Handel’s Xerxes. Ms. River made her Tanglewood debut in the role of Jordan Baker in John Harbison’s The Great Gatsby. Other notable performances include the International Water and Life Festival in Qinghai, China, and recitals at Jordan Hall in Boston and the Asociación Nacional de Conciertos in Panama City, Panama. For Ms. River’s solo recital at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, the New York Times praised her “shimmering voice…with the virtuosity of a violinist and the expressivity of an actress.” Ms. River appears on numerous recordings, including Wasting the Night: Songs (music of Scott Wheeler) and Boston Modern Orchestra Project’s recording of Tobias Picker’s The Fantastic Mr. Fox, for which she won a Grammy award.  Ms. River began her musical career as a cellist, earning her music degree at St. Olaf College. She resides in Boston and is a regular soloist with Emmanuel Music’s renowned Bach Cantata Series.

Jason Wang, tenor

Jason Wang, tenor, performs a wide range of repertoire with many of Boston’s leading ensembles such as Boston Baroque, Boston Lyric Opera, the Schola Cantorum of Boston, and Emmanuel Music. He has recently appeared as a soloist in Haydn’s Theresienmesse and Part-Songs, Handel’s Messiah, Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610 (with the Sounds of Stow Chorus & Orchestra), and with the King’s Chapel Choir in Handel’s Nisi Dominus. His previous concert work includes performances with Boston Baroque, the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, the Mark Morris Dance Group as part of the Fleet Bank Celebrity Series, the Marsh Chapel Choir and Collegium, as a soloist with the Boston University Baroque Orchestra conducted by Martin Pearlman, and with the Cambridge Concentus under the direction of Joshua Rifkin.

Mr. Wang has appeared with Emmanuel Music in performances of John Harbison’s The Great Gatsby. For three seasons Mr. Wang performed with Opera Boston, appearing in their productions of Shostakovitch’s The Nose and Offenbach’s The Grande Duchesse of Gérolstein among others. Additional operatic engagements have included performances with the Boston University Opera Institute, the Handel and Haydn Society, Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras in Verdi’s Rigoletto, and with Boston Lyric Opera in Wagner’s Der fliegende Holländer.  Mr. Wang is a graduate of Cornell University and the Boston University College of Fine Arts and can be heard on recordings released on the Albany and Linn labels.

The American bass-baritone, Mark-Andrew Cleveland, graduated magna cum laude from Westminster Choir College.

Mark-Andrew Cleveland has performed extensively throughout the Northeast. A versatile performer, his repertoire ranges from chant to contemporary works and oratorio to opera. He has performed frequently in Boston with many distinguished organizations including the Cantata SingersBoston Baroque, Masterworks Chorale, and the Brookline Chorus. His credits as a soloist include also performances with the Bach Choir of Bethlehem (Pennsylvania), Southwest Symphony (Florida), Boston Cecilia, Back Bay Chorale, Handel Society of Dartmouth, Concord Chorale, Manchester Choral Society, Newburyport Chorale and Worcester Chorus, among others. His symphonic and festival appearances include the Southwest Florida Symphony, Festival of Two Worlds (in Charleston, SC, and Spoleto, Italy), Vermont Symphony, Tanglewood Festival (Ravinia) and the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles (California).

In addition to his frequent solo performances, Mark-Andrew Cleveland maintains an active vocal studio. His students have received top scores in NH All State auditions, been judged competition winners, and represented New Hampshire as winners of the National Music Teachers Association at District and National competitions. His students have matriculated at many prestigious colleges and conservatories including Boston Conservatory, Cincinnati Conservatory, Ithaca College, New England Conservatory, and Westminster Choir College. He teaches voice at the University of Massachusetts in Lowell, Phillips Exeter Academy, St. Paul’s School, and at the Concord Community Music School in Concord. He currently serves also as the Director of Music at Grace Episcopal Church in Manchester, New Hampshire.
