Laryssa

 An accomplished soloist, Laryssa Doohovskoy has performed numerous concerts, recitals, and staged productions both in the United States and abroad. She is active in a wide variety of repertoire including opera, art song, and musical theater, as well as chamber and choral music. Roles in staged works include Cherubino in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Pitti Sing in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado, Dritte Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Arsace in Rossini’s Semiramide, Alisa in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Augusta in Douglas Moore’s The Ballad of Baby Doe, Prince Orlofsky in Johann Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, and Nicklausse in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann. In recent seasons, Laryssa Doohovskoy has appeared as soloist with the Boston Russian Chorus, Church by the Sea Choir in Bal Harbour, FL, the Sounds of Stow Chorus and Orchestra, and in chamber performances throughout the United States.

In 2013, Ms. Doohovskoy became a founding member of the Patriarch Tikhon Choir, an elite 30-member choir under the direction of world-renowned conductor Vladimir Gorbik, a professional choir dedicated to the performance of Orthodox Christian sacred music. She is also a member of the Zadonsk Chamber Choir, under the direction of Benedict Sheehan. Ms. Doohovskoy has also performed with the Choral Arts Society (Philadelphia) under the direction of the late Seán Deibler, and with the Philadelphia Singers.

A passionate educator, Ms. Doohovskoy has over 15 years experience as a teacher of both children and adults. She runs a thriving private voice studio in Acton, MA and is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). Her students have successfully auditioned for district festivals, university music programs, and local and national productions. She has served as musical director for several children’s theater companies in the Greater Boston area including Encore Players and the Popcorn Players. In 2012, Laryssa Doohovskoy was appointed Director of the St. Xenia Orthodox Church Choir in Methuen, MA after having served as Assistant Director since 2004.

A longtime resident of the Northeast, Ms. Doohovskoy earned her undergraduate degree from New England Conservatory (BM, Vocal Performance). She continued her studies in South Florida earning a graduate degree from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami (MM, Vocal Performance). While at UM Ms. Doohovskoy was awarded a Teaching Assistantship and the Provost Scholarship for study in Salzburg, Austria. Her principal teachers include Esther Jane Hardenbergh, Mark Pearson, Simeon Tregubov, and Susan Clickner.
