VERONICA KENNEY, Oboe
Veronica Kenney is completing her thirtieth year as principal oboist of the Concord Orchestra, where she has also served on the Board of Directors. She has played with a number of other Boston area orchestras, including the North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra, the Longwood Symphony, and others. She is currently co-principal oboist of the Falmouth Chamber Orchestra. In addition to orchestral playing, Veronica enjoys playing chamber music, and she participates in an ongoing woodwind quintet.
Veronica grew up in a very musical family and studied with a number of outstanding teachers, all of whom were students of the legendary Marcel Tabuteau at the Curtis Institute of Music. She received an A.B. from Oberlin College and later an M.Ed. from Boston College. She worked in the field of education as a Special Educator, a School Counselor, and as a School Administrator. In retirement she enjoys having more time to practice and perform, as well as learn to play the piano and garden.
LEO KENEN, Bassoon
Leo Kenen received a Bachelors degree in Bassoon performance from the New England Conservatory of Music studying with Stephen Maxym. Active in the Massachusetts musical scene since 1975, he is a member of the Springfield Symphony, Cape Cod Symphony and Symphony New Hampshire.
After completing music school and working at the MIT Laboratory for Computer Science, Mr. Kenen received a M.S. in Computer Science from Boston University and has worked as a System Architect for Polaroid, Digimarc ID systems, L-1 ID systems and MorphoTrust USA. He now enjoys life as an independent consultant specializing in information, cyber, and document security.
DIANNE MAHANY, Clarinet
Dianne Mahany has been active as a chamber musician and orchestral clarinetist on the local
music scene for many years. Dianne was Principal Clarinetist in the Wellesley Symphony
Orchestra from 2001-2016, and served on its Board of Directors from 2003-2018. She is now
Principal Clarinetist of the Carlisle Chamber Orchestra, and remains an active community
chamber music player. She is Assistant Treasurer and long-time Board member and officer of
the Chamber Music Conference, which runs a 4-week program for amateur chamber musicians
each summer.
Dianne is a retired computer industry business manager, business school adjunct professor, and
small business development consultant, with a BA in philosophy from Tufts University and an
MBA from Babson College. She lives in Sudbury, where she loves hosting a wonderful wind
quintet every other week.
JEFF STEWART, Horn
Jeff Stewart is a retired computer engineer who is glad to now have enough time to be serious about playing the horn. Over the past 20 years he has played in many of the Boston area amateur musical groups, as well as the occasional professional group. Currently he plays in several chamber music groups and in the Wellesley Symphony (as well as in the Sounds of Stow orchestra, of course).
