  • Mendelssohn Chorus of Philadelphia will host “Dialogues with Dominick,” a series of five dialogues with seven extraordinary choral artists. The dialogues will be hosted by the chorus’s new Artistic Director & Conductor, Dominick DiOrio. Later in the fall, they will also host a “Virtual Big Sing.”
  • Singing City Choir will have a series of webinars featuring different speakers including “A Lifetime of Music: Conversations with Anton Armstrong and André Thomas” and “Composing for Choirs” with Carol Barnett, Melissa Dunphy, Jay Fluellen, and Kile Smith. Anton Armstrong and Andre Thomas will be interesting and inspiring.  Sunday Oct. 18, 2:00.  Carol Barnett is the composer of “The World Beloved: A Bluegrass Mass” — which we hope to perform, someday!   Sunday, Nov. 22, 2:00.
  • Boston Baroque – Entire season, but in particular the “Conversation with the Stars: Susanna Phillips” on Thurs. Nov. 12 at 7:00, noting for those who watched Boston Baroque’s performance of Agrippina, that Susanna played the scheming Agrippina, while this past season at the MET, she played the scheming Pompea, a younger version of an ambitious and unscrupulous and very funny woman.

Singing Opportunities

 

  • The Washington Chorus will have a virtual 60th birthday bash fundraising party. Plus, they will partner with Berkshire Choral International for several virtual open sings.  Follow the links to see their collaborative projects with Berkshire Choral Institute. They will host several virtual open sings.  The first, Friday, Oct. 30 features music by three important black composers — Adolphus Hailstork “I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes,” a piece I have have been trying to fit into an appropriate program for thirty years — have multiple copies just waiting to go; Rollo Dilworth and Bernice Johnson Reagan.
    Second open sing is Handel’s Messiah —but a study session and masterclass on the work will precede the performance on Monday, December 7
