Laura Troisi

Laura Troisi, our “in-house talent” Soprano soloist

Laura grew up in Princeton, New Jersey, where there were many opportunities to experience music, from outdoor band concerts at Nassau Hall to hearing Van Cliburn play at McCarter Theater. “My father loved musical theater, and I remember listening to (and singing along with) LPs of Cole Porter, Rogers and Hart and Hammerstein.“

Laura studied piano with Hedley Yost who taught at Westminster Choir College, and sang in choirs during middle school and high school with Nancianne Parrella and William Trego. Concert choir was a daily course where students learned to sight sing through “interval training” and performed major works of Faure, Stravinsky, and Vivaldi, among many others.

At the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver, Laura studied piano with David Karp and voice with Truly Barr Nelson. She sang in the Women’s Chorus and toured with the Concert Choir, and provided piano accompaniment for many lessons and recitals. She often joined the choir at the Holy Ghost Cathedral in downtown Denver to sing complete works for the weekly Latin High Mass, including those by Mozart, Schubert, and Haydn. “It was great sight-reading practice.”

Laura joined the Sounds of Stow Chorus to sing Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana” in the spring of 1996. She has remained a faithful member because “Barbara Jones selects extraordinary works of music that are rarely performed and are a challenge to learn.” Laura also credits Barbara with encouraging her to do solo singing and for arranging the choral trip to Urbino, Italy in 2003.

A special education teacher, Laura places tremendous value on music education and performance experience for all students. She has served as accompanist for children’s musical productions in Westford, Shirley, Lincoln and Bedford. “The student who struggles in the classroom can be a star on stage.”
