Our baritone soloist for ‘A Salute to John Rutter’ is a man of many talents–he also teaches and directs the Weston Middle School Grade 6-7 Chorus, which will be joining Sounds of Stow on the risers for ‘Mass of the Children’.
Born and raised in Westborough, MA, Jonathan received his Bachelors of Music in Education at the Crane Conservatory in Potsdam, NY and his Masters of Music in Education (Choral Conducting Emphasis) from Gordon College in Wenham, MA. An award-winning music director in the theater world, he was named one of Pulse Magazine’s 13 People to Watch in 2013 and is a co-founder and the Executive Director of the Flyleaf Theater Company in Berlin, MA.
Jonathan’s vocal career has taken him across the United States, Canada, and Western Europe and have included performances with Bruce Hornsby, Edwin McCain, Lisa Vroman, Rockapella, and the Ulster Symphony Orchestra in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He has been on stage, in the director’s chair or in the pit for well over 100 theatrical productions throughout the Northeast since 2003 and is a sought-after vocalist, accompanist, trumpet player, vocal coach, conductor, and adjudicator.
For the past twelve years Jonathan has been a choral and theater director in the Belmont and Weston Public Schools, where his ensembles have been recognized for their excellence throughout the state. His singers have been accepted into regional, state, national and international honor choirs. Jonathan also runs a successful vocal studio in Acton for kids and adults.
